Kristi's journey into the world of bookkeeping at Breakwater Bookkeeping in 2020 was fueled by her passion for numbers and her desire to support local businesses. Growing up in Langley, her roots instilled in her a strong sense of community, which she continues to foster through her work.

A graduate of UBC with a Bachelor of Science degree, Kristi initially embarked on a career in mineral exploration and earth science education. However, it was her part-time role as a bookkeeper that captured her heart and redirected her career path. Kristi found fulfillment in collaborating with business owners, assisting them in maintaining accurate financial records and optimizing their operational processes.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Kristi is a wife to an amazing husband and cherishes her role as a boy mom, recently welcoming her son into the world. In Kristi’s spare time she enjoys camping and spending time with her family, dog and horse. Kristi is currently on maternity leave and will be returning in the fall of 2024

Manager, Operations + Senior Bookkeeper

Although she currently lives in the Great White North, just outside of Edmonton, Kelsey grew up in the rain of the Fraser Valley. Having worked for years as a paramedic in the oil and gas industry, she made a career shift to administrative and bookkeeping work in order to stay closer to home.

Since 2018, Kelsey has been an integral part of Breakwater’s team in varying capacities. In 2023 she took the plunge and left her job as Operations Manager of a locomotive leasing and repair company to join the Breakwater team full-time. Having managed a business herself, Kelsey uses her insight and expertise to compose books that are informative and meaningful to all kinds of business owners.

When Kelsey isn’t at work utilizing her analytical side, she likes to exercise her creative brain. Kelsey enjoys exploring the world through photography, and is often found pursuing fibre arts such as weaving, spinning and natural dyeing. Kelsey’s long suffering and supportive husband often gets roped along on her adventures, but her cat prefers to stay home and nap on the couch.

Bookkeeper + Accounts Payable Specialist

Kaylea joined the team in 2022, after she expressed an interest in bookkeeping and joining the team while spending countless hours together with Amie in hockey rinks. With a solid foundation in bookkeeping, including the successful completion of a Bookkeeping Certificate program, Kaylea seamlessly transitioned into her role, leveraging her previous experience as a small business owner to bring a unique perspective to the team. Her background in administrative and accounting-related positions has honed her skills in accounts receivable and accounts payable, making her an invaluable asset.

Beyond the office, she's a dedicated mom to her hockey-playing son and enjoys spending her free time solving puzzles, exploring nature, doting on her cat, and staying active with workouts. Kaylea's dedication, expertise, and vibrant personality enrich our team, and we're grateful to have her onboard.

Certified Professional Accountant + Bookkeeper

Born and raised in Vancouver, Erica is a CPA with a Diploma and Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. She studied accounting to demystify the financial language of businesses.

In the past, she’s worked with all different kinds of small to medium-sized businesses. Erica thrives on supporting her colleagues and clients by tackling accounting tasks so we can all focus on more important things in life and business.

Beyond the balance sheets, you might find her boxing or dabbling in a creative pursuit.
